The future of the modern workforce
As we move into 2021 businesses will face the New Year with the challenges that Covid-19 has forced upon them and while we hope that a successful vaccination program will enable a return to a more normal state, the impact on how and where we work is likely to be with us for many years. Businesses will need to consider ongoing employment taxes compliance implications of changes in working practices that remain post the pandemic.
The pandemic has forced many changes as to how the workforce is structured and operates. The acceleration of working from home brings a number of employment taxes challenges around the provision of equipment, travel and subsistence payments and remote working. We will discuss these together with a detailed review of the tax rules around termination payments, the impact on benefits provision and the continuing developments with the Job Retention Scheme. Our Legal Team will cover the employment law considerations as we move more to working from the virtual office, covering contractual matters, health and safety requirements for remote workers plus a general employment law update.
